Hostel - A Home Away From Home Life in a hostel means a whole panorama of experiences that span from making 'friends for life', to gaining the confidence to face life independently. That is why we have laid a lot of emphasis in creating a warm, welcoming, invigorating and home-like atmosphere in our separate boys' and girls’ hostels. At DPS Pinjore, the hostel is a home away from home, where the children develop the 'confidence to be independent', be it friendships, food, belongings, rooms, joys, sorrows, challenges or any of the uncountable experiences of growing-up together. The DPS Pinjore hostel is a modern fully air-conditioned and refreshing building, built with the explicit purpose of offering a stimulating and enriching experience where students can learn to 'learn for life'. The caring and understanding support staff including housekeepers, matrons, ayahs, laundry and maintenance staff, wardens and of course the principal and teachers guide and pay special attention to the hostel students. Dining together, 'Family Style' Dining is a special time as all eat together 'Family Style' in a large Dining Hall. Boys and Girls have separate dining halls, which can be combined at the time of celebrations and gatherings. Quality home style, hygienic, nutritious Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian Indian, Chinese and Continental meals are served. All the children eat together under the supervision of the Hostel staff. 'Special evenings' provide a chance to the students to showcase their talent in dramatics, dance, music and various aspects of stage management. Encouraging studies with special help The teaching staff, resident staff or senior students take a personal interest in each boarder’s progress, guiding, advising and encouraging them as required. Evening homework classes are conducted under the supervision of teachers who assist in completion of homework. Our fruitful entrance coaching Students are encouraged to take competitive exams for admission to professional courses, whether for the I.I.T., Engineering, Medical or Technical Colleges. To help them prepare for these exams, evening Medical and Engineering Entrance Coaching Classes are organized in school premises by expert tutors. Students are supplied with the necessary study materials and tips for appearing confidently in the National and State level exams. The well-equipped Medical and Health Centre The hostel runs a Health Centre under the supervision of a team of doctors for providing facilities of medical check-up and treatment to resident students along with qualified nurses who are in attendance 24 hours a day. A team of medical specialists also provide routine medical treatment & checkups during the school hours under the 'Health plus' programme. Regular talks and orientations are also held for the children on various health and hygiene related issues. The reassuring 'Buddy' system The 'Buddy' system is used for new boarders in which new students are allocated a 'Buddy' from their own peer group, who assists the new child in settling into the boarding house. The peer-to-peer approach successfully addresses student doubts and worries in a friendly manner. Exeats and Holidays In the DPS Pinjore Hostel, students are allowed outings on specified days provided there is a written permission from the parents in advance, and the school is satisfied that there is a responsible adult/authorized guardian in charge. The boarding house is only closed for the summer holidays. Interaction with Boarders Children are encouraged write letters to their parents regularly. In addition, children may receive calls from parents according to the calling schedule. Birthdays Once a month all children whose birthday falls in that month come together for a cake cutting ceremony along with a dance party and a special menu for the day. Support system The school has a well established support system for children which includes laundry, haircutting, tailoring, shoe mending, locksmiths, electrician and carpenters. Comprehensive Security System The School has close guarded security system manned by security experts. An ultramodern close TV surveillance system covering the whole campus assists the security personnel provide round-the-clock security for the students.
