Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Sashtri at DPS Pinjore

The Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of Nation, and Lal Bahadur Sashtri, the second Prime Minister of Independent India, was celebrated today with reverence and patriotic fervor. The principles and teachings of these great leaders were highlighted in a talk given by Ms. Rekha Sharma in the morning assembly. She brought home the facts from their lives. Mahatma Gandhi fought a non-violent battle against oppressors- the Britishers and taught the countrymen the path of Satyagrah. He was a role model as he followed what he said and believed- the value of truth, honesty, brotherhood, non-violence of thoughts and deeds. The means justify the goals- this teaching of Mahatma Gandhi needs to be adopted and practiced in all Sphere of life by the countrymen to fight corruption – that is making our system weak and hollow.

Lal Bahadur Sashtri on the other hand taught us the value of ‘Simple living and high thinking’. Coming from a very humble background he rose to become Prime Minister never forgetting his humility, simplicity and sincerity. ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ slogan given by him gave a boost to agriculture and the armed forces.

The students were urged to follow the righteous paths shown by these leaders and imbibe the values of truth, honesty, love and affection by the Principal Mr. Samson Masih.
