Delhi Public School Pinjore Falicitates and Hounours Its Support Staff On May Day

A  Tribute to those who are always on their toes,

Performing chores,

A day without their is unthinkable, for sure.

May 1, 2012: Labour Day was celebrated with full aplomb to appreciate the tireless, hard working workers of this institution. Paying a befitting tribute and thanking them for making the life of others comfortable day- after-day by accomplishing the jobs assigned to them, the school students presented a skit. Depicting how the absence of a maid could spoil the morning and cause the whole routine to    topsy-turvy unnerving the family members totally: The absence of a peon in an institution is almost unthinkable as it means a lot of mismanagement and chaos because they are the ones who run errands the whole daylong to keep things going.

The Management announced a substantial hike in the salaries of the support staff in appreciation of their services. The teachers and students also did their bit by making a contribution which was distributed among the  workers.

The support staff was also made to feel important by inviting them on the stage to showcase their talent. Most of them, feeling shy, initially opened up and the appreciative audience had a treat for their eyes when the lady workers gave a dance performance on the popular Punjabi Number “ Too Ni Boldi….”

The Principal Mr Samson Masih addressing the students highlighted the need ,importance and significance of the role of these workers in our life. He also emphasized upon the value of Dignity of labor which helps a person to become more humane and responsible towards his fellow beings. Empathy is a great virtue to practice, he added.

The programme was conducted by Ms Meenakshi Mohan Who made sure that every member of the support staff was honored by the Principal.

The parents of the students were invited to cooperate by instilling good habits  in their children like showing respect towards  the maids and the servants, drivers, Factory workers, etc.

The tiny tots from pre-Nur to class II also celebrated the day in a special way by coloring the cut-outs of the Helpers  who make our life go smoothly with their dedicated services ‘Thank You’ cards made by the students were also given to these workers who were extremely touched. They thanked every one for this generosity and kind gesture .The senior students expressed their views on this significant day in prose and verse later.

The message of the Labour Day celebrations reached every one to be compassionate, respectful and generous towards these fellow workers ,always because they do make a lot of difference in our lives.

DPS Pinjore Students Express- Their view of Labour day.

Labour Day is celebrated on 1st May every year. This time I learnt that the helpers who make our life heaven work very hard but what for? They do not enjoy any luxuries. We treat them badly. They should be respected. We should not ignore them.                                     Rishabh Prashar(class X)

They are the real heroes

Who help us every day

Even in rain

Without any strain.

They are an inspiration

Working with full determination

I have realized this

From may day, this one.                                                                                               Aprajita Sharma(class X)

We should respect our helpers. We should treat them like a family. To celebrated the hard work of the workers, Labour should not be celebrated not only on May 1, but everyday.

Shubhi Sharma(Class IX)

They mend our shoes, clean our clothes, drive our cars, make our food, groom us and even clean our waste. Its time now that we take a day off for them and make them feel important, and say they are the hand of God.                                                                                                                          Rahul Vats (Class XII)

All the helpers work very hard for all of us. The sweepers clean all the untidy rooms after we leave for home. The drivers of buses help us to reach school on time. They take us back to home. The chef of the hostel cooks delicious food. If they all do not work, our lives will come to a stand still.

Abhishek kumar Chambel(class X)

Save Mother Earth: A Commitment Of DPS Pinjore

“Towards a sustainable Society and sustainable development to heal the world”, with this theme, the DIPsites from Pinjore published their Annual School Magazine working on various projects to get sensitized and spread awareness about the dire need of the hour – To save The Green Planet.

DPS Pinjore, thus is playing a vital role in educating the young about various environmental issues like plantation, energy, saving water and minimizing pollution. The three R’s (Reduce, Recycle, and Reuse) are the main topics for the projects making children appreciate the Earth with all its wonderful resources and also learn how to take care of them. We feel that our children although quite young can make a difference. They can be the best agents of change. If we want to bring in the change we have to be the change ourselves. Gandhiji quite rightly said, “Be the change you want to see in the world”, therefore to make this world  a better place to live in for the present and Gen Next we want to make these future citizens of our country to participate whole heartedly to improve the glomming scenario that we experience today. If you want a sustainable society you all have to work for a sustainable development. We stated a drive with our school magazine to sensitize children and bring in this desired change.

Now they are all geared up to celebrate their annual function on the theme “We Are The World” The message is loud and clear that unless each one of us learns to shoulder the responsibility of revitalizing and returning the beauty of a badly pillaged and ravaged planet. We must become sensitive to the SOS:

Check pollution, plant trees

Be sensitive towards her needs

To return the beauty, she has lost

We all need to do our utmost.

With this concern and commitment the students observed “Earth day” on April 21st participating in a host of activities organized to commemorate this day. While the students of class IX expressed their concern and commitment towards the noble cause of saving our planet, in a skit titled “We Will Save Her”, the students of class 3–5 made lovely cards and displayed them on the boards.

The students from classes 6-10 group participated in an inter house declamation competition .Speaking on the topic “My Mother Earth: My Responsibilities”, they expressed their views on the deteriorating state of the eco system, deforestation and Human insensitivity towards the Earth whose bounties are in abundance. The orators brought home the fact that each one has to wake up and own the responsibility of returning the charm and beauty as all life on Earth is part of one great interdependent system. Disturbing one part of the biosphere affects the whole planet. It is a matter of ethics as well as practicality to manage development so that it does not threaten the survival of other species.

DPS Pinjore is working with a conviction that our honest thoughts can be turned into reality only with a total dedication to the cause of saving The Mother Earth. Every child knows that the hope lies in individual efforts-a humble beginning can become an inspirational spark.

Therefore to commemorate this most significant and important day of our times, a special assembly was conducted in the school on April 21. The children, all ready to take the responsibility, expressed their concern about pollution, deforestation and the inhuman attitude of the residents of this earth whom we have ravage, pillaged, destroyed and drained it of its vitality. A skit was presented by class 9th students to spread awareness and also to make everyone feel responsible for the safety of the Mother Earth.

In an InterHouse declamation contest, the participants from classes 6 to 10 expressed their views on the deteriorating state of the eco system, deforestation and Human insensitivity towards the Earth whose bounties have no abundance. The orators brought home the fact that each one has to wake up and own the responsibility of returning the charm and beauty of Mother Earth – the following message was reached to all

‘Lets pay heed to the SOS

Our Mother Earth is in distress

We need to  wake up and be possessed

With a passion to do our utmost

Check pollution, plants trees

And return her the beauty she has lost.’

This celebration will lead to the long term impact that helps the environment. We feel that our children although quite young can do wonders. They can be the best agents of change. If we want to bring in the change we have to be the change ourselves. Gandhiji quite rightly said “Be the change you want to see in the world” therefore to make this world  a better place to live in for the present and GenNext we want to make these future citizens of the country to participate whole heartedly to improve the glomming scenario that we experience today. If you want a sustainable society you all have to work for a sustainable development. We stated a drive with our school magazine to sensitize the children and bring in this desired change. This year they took up the theme towards a sustainable society and development for their school magazine. They express their views taking pledge to improve upon the present state by participating whole heartedly in the drive to save the Earth. Some of the projects being presented here from the Magazine speaks for themselves.
