Delhi Public School Pinjore win the District Basketball Championship

Delhi Public School Pinjore U-17 Basketball team defeated Shishu Niketan School, Chandigarh to become the winners in the District Basketball Championship held at Sports Complex sector-3 Panchkula on August 30, 2011.
In the final match DPS Pinjore dominated the game throughout and emerged winners by defeating the opponents 52-15. The credit of this victory mainly goes to three players namely Yatin Godara, Vikalp Singh and Deepak Goyal who scored 15, 18 and 10 baskets respectively for their team.
This is the first time that DPS Pinjore has won this title to qualify for the State Level
State Participation.
Swimming : August 20-22,2011
Two swimmers from our school participated in the Swimming State championship. Names of the participants are :
Vipin Kalkal 3rd Position in Breast Stroke.
Aditya Singh 3rd Position in Free style.
Both have been selected to play at the National Level.

Football : August 20-24,2011
Under 19: Eight boys from our school were selected to represent the State in the U-19 Football championship held on . Names of the participants are as follows:
Karan Bhagat, Akika Keepa, Ami Kato, Sumit, Parabhat, Ritesh chabri, Sahil Sood, Krishna Yadav. All from class XII.
Under 17: Three boys from our school were selected to represent the State in the U-17 Football championship held on. Names of the participants are Param Walia(IX), Rahul Joon(X), Shubham Guleria (X).

Atheletics: August 20-24, 2011
Boys:
Under 19: Siddhant Shikhar, Rajat Pannu, Ameet Singh Ladhi. All from class XII.
Ameet Singh Ladhi won the 3rd Position in 400 mtrs. Race.
Under 14: Ankit Khatana, Amrit Kant of class VIII.
Girls:
Under 14: Shailja Narayan(VIII).

Yatin Godara of class X has been selected to play at the National Level Basket Ball player championship.

Under 19: Moksh Arora(XII), Udham Singh(XII), Uday Pratap Singh(XII), Tarun Yogi(XI).

Annual Inter DPS North Zone I U-14 Boys Football Tournament

The Annual Inter DPS North Zone I U-14 Boys Football Tournament was hosted by DPS Pinjore. This tournament was organized on August 12 and 13, as per the Sports Activity Calendar chalked out for the session

2011-12 by the DPS Society.

Six Teams namely DPS Jammu, DPS Chandigarh, DPS Jhakhari, DPS Amritsar,DPS Bhatinda and the hosts DPS Pinjore took part in the Tournament . Initially DPS Manali had  also sent its consent for participation but due to an indisposed coach, the team could not come for participation in the Tournament.

All the teams except Chandigarh, stayed on the premises where all the necessary arrangements had been made by the hosts for a comfortable stay of the players and other officials who accompanied their respective teams.

The Opening Ceremony commenced at 11 am on August 12 .The Chief Guest for the ceremony was Capt. Ajay Singh Yadav,Minister for Power, Forests and Environment, Haryana. The ceremony was also attended by The Pro-Vice Chairman Dr. DR Arora along with many dignitaries of Govt. of Haryana. The Principal Mr Samson Masih extended a formal and floral welcome to the guests.

The Chief Guest declared the Tournament ‘OPEN’. This well attended ceremony which was studded with a cultural treat – celebrating football with an opening dance on the famous song Waka-Waka. The participating  teams were introduce while marching before the audience

Followed by this was the oath taking by the players who vowed to abide by all the rules and regulations laid down for the Tournament.

The Chief Guest then addressing the audience congratulated all the teams for participating in such a prestigious event which play an important part in strengthening the Family Ties. He also urged the students to take up Sports as a career as there are umpteen opportunities in the field, He said.

Day 2    DPS Bhatinda left for their home Town after breakfast on the morning of Aug 13.

DPS Jammu  and DPS Amritsar played for the Third position in the semi finals at 8;30 am

DPS Amritsar won to bag the third position by defeating DPS Jammu by       goals to      .

The final match scheduled to be played at 11;30 am between DPS Pinjore and DPS Chandigarh had to be postponed due to rain. The match could finally started at 1 pm. The first half  of the game   saw DPS Pinjore  taking the lead with 2-0.In the second half too , Pinjore dominated the game with continuous attacks .They maintained the lead emerging winners of the Tournament.

Mr. Bhupinder Singh, a renowned football coach from Panjab University presided over the Closing ceremony in which the winners along with the Runners-up1 and Runners –up 2 teams were given away Trophies. The Winning team of DPS Pinjore ,beaming  with joy ,posed for the photograph. Besides the first three position holders of the tournament, The coaches of the teams were honoured  and the certificates of their players along with the photographs were handed over to them. The  Match officials ,who had helped in steering through the proceedings of the Tournament in a most systematic and unbiased manner ,were also felicitated by the Principal Mr. Samson Masih.

DPS Pinjore ,the North Zone I Champions and DPS Chandigarh ,The First Runners-up have qualified to play the Inter DPS (U14boys) Football Tournament to be held in the month of December,2011 at DPS Dwarka according to the Activity Calendar of the DPS Society.

DPS Pinjore celebrates Janamashtami

Tiny –tots attired as Krishna,Radha,Gopikas, Nand Baba, Sudama,Rukmani brought the whole story of lord Krishna’s life alive on the stage as they marched past giving their introduction as the character they were depicting in the fancy dress competition organized for them.

Ms. Rachel highlighted the importance and significance of this festival in a talk which was followed by a poem and a melodious song presented by the students of class VI.  A jhula was beautifully decorated by the Art department which was the main attraction of the occasion. Lord Krishna is one of the most worshiped deities in the country. His teachings compiled in “Bhagwat Gita” is most revered and most relevant in today’s life, this message was conveyed to the students through a display board.

Palash Undertakes The Task To Know and Protect The Mother Earth

The environmental Club, Palash of DPS Pinjore under took an educative outing to study nature and interact with it in its most beautiful, green and lovely surroundings at “Srishti”, a nature park. The students saw arid zone, rain forest xerophytes, interdependence of plants, epiphytes, orchids, insectivorous plants etc. They went for nature walk and observed the things minutely. There was a working model of Volcano displayed in the “Srishti”, which fascinated the students most, who asked questions based on it. Besides this the fresh water biomes, marine water biomes, fossils, stone age tools, corals, sea shells were an added attraction of the visit. Later on a quiz was organized on the basis of what they saw in Nature Park.

The fast deteriorating conditions of our Environment has made it necessary for all of us to be aware of the delicate balance that exists between different parts of nature for its normal functioning. Only a proper understanding of the forces of the Nature and our negative role in disturbing the balance of Nature can help us protect and preserve the life supporting environment around us. This is the main purpose of “Palash”, which has helped in sensitizing its members to a great extent. They will continue with their effort to save The Mother Earth.
